Eagle Mountain Adobe
The Eagle Mountain adobe is perched on a high slope above Lower Oak Creek, with the vast House Mountain wilderness panorama to the south. Native stone gathered from the site anchors the home and protects the lower portion of its adobe walls with a battered wainscot. Timber posts and beams carry the low-pitched, sheltering roof above, with black steel panels cladding the upper portion of the walls between. The home stretches out horizontally, parallel to the site contours, maximizing southern exposure, and allowing all spaces to flow on the same level. The entry is through a portal-enclosed courtyard on the north, which connects a detached studio and greenhouse to the main home. Inside, smooth white plaster finishes the organic adobe walls, and a polished dark concrete floor sets the stage for finely crafted custom wood cabinetry and art.
