Bear Mountain Adobe
The Bear Mountain home is made from local adobe bricks, board-formed cast concrete, native juniper logs, hot rolled steel siding, and rusted corrugated roofing. It is finished inside with hand-crafted interior plaster walls, cabinets and doors from a single ancient mahogany timber found in a lumberyard on the pacific coast, and northern Arizona flagstone floors. The plan consists of a series of linked pavilions and outdoor rooms arranged around a lush courtyard with lily pond, and opens wide on the north to the grand sweep of Bear Mountain. The owners have nurtured an orchard and surrounding food forest, blending seamlessly into the native Pinyon Juniper Woodland beyond.
